Over 90% of people living with musculoskeletal trauma—a massive proportion of the global burden of disease—live in low and middle-income countries like Peru. While government-run hospitals in Pucallpa, Peru, provide medical care to the community, they are severely under-resourced, offering no options for orthotics, prosthetics, and rehabilitation from surgery. The significant costs of traumatic injuries go beyond health care. Therefore, local Peruvians in Pucallpa and Amazon Tribe members have no access to orthopedic medical care, prosthetics or rehabilitation.
In September of 2022, the Tim Tebow Foundation entered into a partnership with Scalpel At The Cross, a ministry dedicated to being a lighthouse for Christ through medical ministry in the Peruvian Amazon region of South America. Through this partnership, we will help build the brand-new Miracle Campus, which will become home to the first Orthotics & Prosthetics and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (OP&OR) facility in the Peruvian Amazon jungle. This beautiful 5-acre campus will provide community outreach, injury treatment, and spiritual healing while serving as a light in the darkness.
