Why It Matters
The Problem
It's never easy to talk about the darkness and heartbreak experienced by some of the world's most vulnerable people, like abandoned babies. However, we are called to run into chaos and crisis to fight for those in their darkest hour of need. Every day, it is estimated that three to four babies are abandoned on the streets of Johannesburg, South Africa. For every baby found alive, at least two are found dead. Many babies are born into extreme poverty. Some women find themselves in abusive situations, and desperate mothers feel they have no choice but to leave their babies.
The Solution
The Tim Tebow Foundation has the privilege of partnering with Impact Africa to provide a life-saving alternative to the massive crisis of baby abandonment in Johannesburg, South Africa. Together, we created TTF Impact Baby Rescue which helps fight baby abandonment through a three-pronged approach: prevention, rescue, and adoption. Through this ministry, we are able to help prevent baby abandonment through the Awareness Education Team. This team is out in the community reaching as many women as they can educating them on their life-affirming options. Our counseling centers help prevent baby abandonment by counseling moms in their darkest hour of need. If a mother is faced with no other choice but to give up her baby, our team will guide her through the necessary steps. Once rescued, the precious child is transferred to a TTF Promise Home where they are cared for with top-level care, nutrition, health care, wellness, and the opportunity for a forever family!
