The Tim Tebow Foundation is blessed to have so many people from all walks of life in all parts of the world come along side us in our mission to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need. Through prayer, advocacy, volunteerism, financial gifts, encouraging messages and so much more, we are able to serve children and share God’s love because of the support of thousands of people.
Hannah Guck is just one example of a supporter who truly embodies our mission. Not only does Hannah give monthly as a member of The Movement, she has also served as a buddy at Night to Shine in 2016 and 2017 and raised money for Night to Shine through her fundraiser, “Knitting to Make a Difference.”
We hope her story of why she gives of herself and her resources to the Tim Tebow Foundation will be a blessing and an inspiration to you like it was to us…
Outreach is a big part of my life, and serving others has always been a passion within my heart. One scripture I turn to is Matthew 20:28, “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve.” I believe each one of us can make a difference and in doing so, can help change one life at a time.
I first experienced the works of the Tim Tebow Foundation at Night to Shine. By being a part of Night to Shine in 2016 and 2017, I saw like-minded people come together to show others they matter, that they deserve to be recognized, and that they’re all kings and queens in the eyes of God. Volunteers dedicated their time, talents, and resources to express the love of Christ. I knew without a doubt that this was a foundation that I not only wanted to be a part of, but to invest in. TTF impacts the lives of others by showing and sharing the love of Christ in more ways than one. They exemplify bringing faith, hope and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need. They do this by living out their mission, vision and giving God the glory!
In 2017, I felt the Lord leading me to fundraise for Night to Shine and serve in a different way. I decided that I could do it by using one of my talents that would help children in need. I believe each one of us is given talents or gifts that we can use to help serve one another. 1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms,” sparked the beginning of my fundraiser for TTF, “Knitting to Make a Difference.” With every donation, a hat was knitted and given to a child in need.
My heart’s expectation and desire was to raise $1,000.00. I began sharing the fundraiser with my family, friends, and then on social media by giving updates of my progress. In the beginning, I started off by setting the goal at $500.00, and within two weeks we reached $750.00, and by the end of the month, we raised over $1,000! I say “we” because it was those who took the time to give and look beyond themselves to help make a difference in the lives of others! Together, we did it!! If you’re thinking of being a part of Night to Shine, fundraising, or you simply desire to help make a difference in the lives of others, then I encourage you to do what you can! Use the talents you’ve been given, step out, share your fundraising efforts, and watch God do the impossible!
To those who are thinking about serving or giving but haven’t yet, my advice is to step out of your comfort zone and face the unknown. If you have a desire to make a difference, then you’ll make a way or make an excuse. God can use you right where you are…. each of us can do something; it’s choosing to look beyond ourselves. If you’re unsure where to start, start in your own neighborhood or community. If God has placed an idea or desire in your heart, take a step and start by helping the best way you can. If you see a need, fill it. It’s our small acts of kindness over time that make the biggest difference.
