Ben's W15H
Hello October 28th, 2019Share This Story
Ben Ferguson was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when he was just two years old. He’s now 13 and has lived and fought for a long time with this disease, recently experiencing some decreased lung function forcing him into an extended hospital stay. Although a new medication has been giving Ben some rough side effects, we are so excited that he was now well enough for his W15H to meet Tim!
Ben told us that Tim has inspired him with the way his actions and life honor God. This was just the beginning of their connections, though, as we also found out that Ben comes from a big family just as Tim does (Ben has four brothers and a sister)!
I want to meet Tim Tebow because he is a really cool guy who loves Jesus, sports, and family.
On Friday, Ben and his family took a limo ride to a private dinner with Tim. Over a delicious steak, Tim and Ben shared their experiences and encouragement for how to handle hard times in life. They talked about how God uses our worst days for his Glory, and Tim encouraged Ben to keep on depending on God. Ben was almost speechless at the beginning of dinner because he was so excited to spend time with Tim, but quickly found his voice and left dinner so encouraged from their time together
Saturday morning, Ben got up early to meet Tim on the set of SEC Nation. Tim introduced Ben to the other SEC Nation hosts and gave him an exclusive backstage tour of the set. Ben also got to meet some former LSU players and was surprised with some new LSU gear!
After a quick lunch, Ben and his family headed back to the football field to meet the LSU mascot, Mike the Tiger, and then cheer for LSU as they played Auburn. Ben loved how loud and big the stadium was!
On the way back to the hotel after the game, Ben stopped at a sporting goods store where he was gifted a shopping spree, and then chose to order room service for dinner because he had never done that before.
Ben was such a joy to get to know during his W15H weekend. He has an incredibly vibrant personality and so much enthusiasm for new experiences. We are excited to see how God will use him and his story to encourage others!
