Andres Huerta’s W15H…
Hello October 15th, 2016Share This Story
Andres’s Story…
His dream was to playcollege football… But then that dream fell into jeopardy. Andres Huerta was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 17. Now 18, Andres has been battling cancer for more than a year and has refused to let this fight keep him from pursuing his dream.
As it says in his favorite Bible verse, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me,” (Philippians 4:13, ESV), to win the battle against cancer, Andres knew that it would take hard work, mental strength and a reliance on Christ; similar to winning a game of football, which he had done so many times. With this mentality, the comfort of The Lord’s strength at his side, and the support of his family and friends, he has been able to maintain incredible strength amidst this fight.
This past February, Andres’s incredible passion and skill for football was recognized when he received a full scholarship to play at Tennessee Tech University. However, this news also was met with another challenge… he had relapsed and had to begin cancer treatment again, delaying his freshman year at Tennessee Tech.
Andres’s strength in this fight continued, and he received his last round of treatment this past Thursday… We pray for good scans! In the midst of treatment, we are excited to welcome Andres on his W15H this weekend.
“This W15H experience means everything to me,” said Andres. “I am truly blessed! I can’t wait to spend some time with Tim because he is an athlete that I look up to, and a positive role model in his love for Jesus Christ.”
Andres’s W15H…
Andres and his family arrived last night at one of Knoxville, Tennessee’s most luxurious hotels for what will be a one-of-a-kind W15H experience. Last night at dinner, Andres was surprised by his role model, Tim Tebow, where they were able to spend quality one-on-one time together.
Today, Andres is behind the scenes at SEC Nation with Tim in preparation for the Tennessee game, which happens to be Andres’s favorite team! Following SEC Nation, Andres will enjoy VIP access on the field for the game between Tennessee and Alabama… It is sure to be a great game, and we hope Andres and his family have a wonderful time as they simply take a step back from the worry and stress of a year-long battle with cancer.
We pray that this weekend serves as encouragement to Andres to keep his faith first in his battle and to maintain his positive mindset!
