The Fight Continues…Please Pray For Blaine

Hello September 2nd, 2015

At the Tim Tebow Foundation, the children that we are blessed to serve through our W15H Program quickly become our family. Today, we are asking for prayers for one of our dear family members, Blaine Baxley.

Blaine was diagnosed with ALL leukemia when she was just 19 months old, and proved she was a fighter even at such a young age. She battled hard and went into remission in time to begin preschool. In August 2013, just before the start of sixth grade, Blaine began a new battle in her fight with leukemia, as the disease once again took hold of her. After receiving what seemed to be the worst news she and her family could hear, their world was rocked further when just a month later, Blaine’s father suddenly passed away.

In the midst of this heartache, pain and uncertainty, Blaine still had to spend many months receiving treatment away from home, only returning for short breaks. She spent most of her time isolated from her world and the things all young girls look forward to such as decorating lockers, school activities and sports. Through it all, Blaine maintained a bright attitude and resilience to her circumstances.

It was also through this experience that Blaine was introduced to the Tim Tebow Foundation. Blaine was our special guest at the Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Gala & Golf Classic in March 2015, where Tim was able to encourage her to keep seeking the Lord as her strength. We were blessed to be able to provide a welcomed respite from scary months of testing and waiting as her treatments continued.

Following the tournament, Vanessa’s updates on Blaine were steadily more positive, as her scans and tests were all coming back clear. However, last month, Blaine’s health took an unexpected turn. She came down with pneumonia, and on the day they would have been celebrating her last day of oral chemotherapy medication, Blaine was rushed to the PICU for respiratory distress. This was just the beginning of what would be another very long, terrifying ordeal for Blaine and her mom.

Blaine has had good days and bad days since Tim first took to social media to ask for prayers for her last month. Today, we want to ask our prayer warriors to continue to faithfully lift her up in prayer for strength, healing and comfort as she continues to battle back from this latest fight. Please also pray for her mom, Vanessa, as she remains by Blaine’s side through all the ups and downs.

This precious girl and her mom have experienced so much heartache and tribulation, and yet they have held on tightly to their faith in their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
