INTERCEPT is an inter-agency task force that brings together highly skilled investigators who use technology and the necessary relationships to rescue victims of child sexual exploitation.
The fight is real and the statistics are nearly impossible to comprehend. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received nearly 85 million pictures and videos depicting child sexual abuse worldwide in 2021.
Right now, in the darkness of the internet, child sexual abuse material is gaining ground at a rate almost unimaginable. Made significantly worse by COVID-19 lockdowns and increased internet usage, child sexual abuse material (CSAM)—the production, distribution, and or possession of visual depictions of a child or of children being sexually assaulted or exploited—has risen at a rate never before seen in history. In more simplistic terms, children around the world are being sexually abused and exploited every single day and people are paying to view it online.
INTERCEPT is an inter-agency task force that brings together highly skilled investigators who use technology and the necessary relationships to rescue victims of child sexual exploitation. INTERCEPT is committed to a victim-centered approach alongside law enforcement to rescue these victims and pursue those perpetrating this evil as well as seek justice. This task force provides critical resources to law enforcement, including salary replacement, hardware, software, and any additional costs to increase law enforcement's ability to identify and rescue child victims, apprehend their offenders, and reduce the risk through public education and awareness. Due to the success of INTERCEPT in Middle Tennessee, TTF and Operation Light Shine have now expanded the model to three new areas across the United States including Northwest Florida, Southwest Florida, and Central Virginia.
