The Gender-Based Violence Shelter provides medical care, counseling, and legal help for survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, torture, and trafficking.
There is an urgent need in Uganda to help survivors of violence and human trafficking with services and resources. The Coronavirus pandemic caused increased stress at home, and therefore, rates of domestic abuse and child abuse are rapidly rising. There is need for strong intervention and for these innocent victims to have a place of refuge to run to where they will receive all of the necessary treatments, medication, and legal counsel in order to reintegrate back into society in a healthy way.
The Gender-Based Violence Shelter provides medical care, counseling, and legal assistance to vulnerable women in desperate need of help. Survivors also have access to local law enforcement to ensure that investigations are carried out, perpetrators are arrested, and cases are tracked with the goal of conviction.
